Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are some of the most versatile and widely used dental restorations. They are wafer-thin pieces of ceramic that are shaped according to the contour of the teeth. By bonding them to the frontal surface of the teeth, surface imperfections such as chipping, discoloration, minor cracks, excessive wear, etc. can be gotten rid of.

Why should you choose veneers?

Veneers offer several advantages that make them the go-to solution to certain oral conditions. Some of them are as follows:

  • Veneers are made from dental-grade ceramic material. This allows dentists to customize it as required with respect to the color, contour, texture, and translucency.
  • Since veneers are fabricated to be wafer-thin, they do not add a lot of volume to the natural tooth structure. Hence, the tooth doesn't look too bulky or out of shape.
  • Bonding a veneer to a severely discolored tooth will help to bring it back to its ideal color. In such cases, teeth whitening may not yield the desired results.
  • A veneer can help to treat minor cracks and prevent the tooth from crumbling or breaking while chewing food.
  • In the case of excessive wear, veneers can be bonded to the teeth to bring them back to their original shape and size.

How are veneers fabricated?

The treatment procedure to get a veneer is quite a simple one. When you visit our dental practice, we would conduct an initial screening to understand the severity of the condition. During this, various factors such as cavities, the strength of the teeth, the presence of cracks, tartar deposits, discoloration, etc. will be taken into consideration to determine the candidacy for veneers. Next, the tooth will be cleaned thoroughly to prepare them for the procedure.

We offer ceramic restorations that are fabricated using a process called CEREC, or Chairside Economical Restoration using Esthetic Ceramic. It is an advanced method of fabricating ceramic restorations using CAD/CAM technology, making it highly efficient and accurate. The best part about CEREC is that the entire process can be completed in a single visit to the dentist's office.

The tooth receiving the restoration will be scanned using a hand-held scanning tool. The data from the scans will be sent to a computer that is connected to the CAD/CAM machine. Based on this, the milling machine meticulously mills out the veneer from a small block of porcelain. The dentist then makes minor adjustments to the veneer and polishes it to enhance its appearance. The tooth will be prepared for bonding by etching is surface using a suitable etching solution. Dental adhesives will be used to bond it to the tooth, after which it will be hardened using a blue curing light. At the end of the procedure, you'll have your beautiful smile back.
